Hello Sarah's Journey
Sarah and Tommy's Story
As a single mum of two, life has always been busy, but over the past year, things became especially difficult with my youngest son, Tommy. He’s always been bright and full of energy, but his behavior started to become harder to manage. He couldn’t sit still, interrupted conversations constantly, and would get frustrated when things didn’t go his way. Homework was a daily battle, and I started getting calls from his teachers about his lack of focus and impulsiveness in class.

One day, Tommy’s SEN teacher suggested that ADHD might be behind his struggles and recommended that I consider getting him assessed. I wasn’t sure what to think — part of me was worried about the stigma of a diagnosis, and I didn’t know where to start.
After doing some research, I came across NeuroAssess and decided to reach out. From the first conversation, I felt supported and reassured. The team was kind and patient, explaining the process clearly and answering all my questions. The remote interview was handled with so much care — the specialist made sure Tommy felt comfortable and took the time to ask thoughtful, age-appropriate questions about his focus, emotions, and daily life. I was so relieved to see how relaxed and open Tommy was during the session.

After the assessment, I received a detailed report that confirmed Tommy’s ADHD diagnosis. The specialist also gave me practical advice on how to help Tommy manage his challenges, suggesting coping strategies like structured routines, positive reinforcement, and emotional regulation techniques. We also talked about possible treatment options, including therapy and medication, which gave me a clear plan to move forward.

Since the diagnosis, I’ve seen a real change in Tommy. He’s more focused and less frustrated, and he’s starting to feel more confident at school. Knowing what we’re dealing with has made such a difference — I feel more in control and better equipped to help him. NeuroAssess didn’t just give us a diagnosis; they gave us the tools and understanding to help Tommy thrive. I can’t recommend them enough.
